LFR and Normal are completely different lockouts. Normal and heroic share the same lockout.

Loot has different itemization, names, and appearances. Loot has a chance to come with several variations: Warforged, an extra prismatic socket, and/or a tertiary stat. I am not sure if this question makes sense, because most of the comments and replies I have been reading date back to late 2016 and early 2017 -- I was looking to see if LFR would get me in Trial of Valor: The Lost Army and if there was any reason I should try to get in a raid group via LFR -- and wandered through a whole bunch of Q&A messages which told me a lot of things I did not know.

This new system is no different but 100x worse due to the nature of LFR. Actually, the new system is quite a bit different than the 10- and 25-player lockout situation. Anyone can join anyone’s instance. This isn't a coincidence, as the same players then received loot from later bosses which they hadn't cleared in LFR. The most important change is that on LFR/Normal/Heroic you don't have instance locks. Instead you are "locked" out of loot from individual bosses after the first kill for the week. You can still go help your friends and run the raid 100 times, but you only get a chance for loot on the first kill each week.

Careful during LFR. The loot lockout also counts for the items you need for this quest, so if you get put in a group past Odyn before starting this quest, and finish the raid, you can't redo the bosses for these items in the same week.
